ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University battled against Cabrini University on Wednesday afternoon but fell 6-0 in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
The teams played to an almost scoreless first quarter, but the Cavaliers were able to breakthrough with 14 seconds on the clock. Cabrini then netted three goals in a five-minute span of the second half for a 4-0 lead.
The Knights held the Cavaliers off the board in the third quarter. Cabrini then added two goals in the fourth quarter for the 6-0 final.
"(We) struggled in the first half to contain Cabrini's speed and allowed 14 corners.
Megan Frame played very well in goal and kept it from being a blowout," says head coach
Erik Enters about today's game. Frame made 10 saves as the junior started the game in net and played the first half.
"In the second half,
Lexi Stouffer and
Rachel Koerner played exceptionally well, slowing Cabrini and working the ball up the field. After giving up 14 corners in the first half, (we) equaled the Cavaliers three corners in the second half," continues Enters.
Lizzie Frame tallied Neumann's only shot as well as tallying a defensive save.
Ava Irwin was back in net for the second half and made seven saves.
Neumann (2-10, 0-3 Atlantic East) will host Notre Dame (Md.) on Monday in a rescheduled non-conference game. Action is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
