ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team battled with Cabrini University on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up. The Cavaliers came away with the 3-1 win.
 
Bre Hickey led the Knights with 14 kills and 13 digs. Ariana Pena added 10 kills. Dani Smith handed out 28 assists. Tori Burgess tallied 12 digs, Regan Hickey notched 11 and Reagan Walker added 10.
 
The Knights jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first set. The Cavaliers came back, and the teams went back and forth. Down 10-8, Cabrini scored eight of the next nine points for a 16-11 advantage. Five straight points later in the set put the Cavaliers up 22-14. Cabrini came away with the 25-18 set one win.
 
Neumann opened the second set again with a 5-1 lead and extended it to 8-2. The Knights were able to take a 14-10 lead and expand it to a 20-11 advantage. A kill by R. Hickey gave Neumann the 25-18 set two win.
 
Set three went back and forth from the start. Each team had set point advantages, but it was Cabrini that pulled out the 28-26 set three win for a 2-1 match lead.
 
Cabrini took the lead in the fourth set. Neumann came back to within two, 16-14, but the Cavaliers scored six straight points for a 22-14 advantage. Cabrini took the set 25-18 for the 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (10-13, 2-2 Atlantic East) will head to York Pa. on Saturday for a tri-match with the Spartans and Drew. Action is slated to get underway against York (Pa.) at 11:00 AM followed by Drew at 1:00 PM.
