YORK, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a tri-match on Saturday. The Knights fell 3-0 to both host York College (Pa.) and Drew University.
In the first match against York,
Bre Hickey had 12 digs and eight kills.
Dani Smith dished out 23 assists.
Reagan Walker notched 10 digs.
The Spartans took the lead in the first two sets and kept the Knights at arm's length to come away with 25-20 and 25-15 wins.
In the third set, down 12-8, Neumann scored six consecutive points to take a 14-12 edge. York answered by scoring nine of the next 11 points for a 21-16 advantage. The Knights pulled to with two, 24-22, but the Spartans finished the set for a 25-22 win and 3-0 overall.
Against the Rangers, B. Hickey had eight kills and nine digs.
Regan Hickey tallied seven kills while
Ariana Pena added six. Smith handed out 11 assists.
The teams went back and forth to start he first set. A service aces by B. Hickey game the Knights a 14-13 edge. Drew then scored five straight points for an 18-14 lead and took the first set 25-19.
The Rangers slowly built their lead in the second set and held a 24-13 lead. Before Drew could get set point, Neumann scored five points, but dropped 25-18.
Set three was much like set two where the Rangers slowly built their lead over the set, winning 25-19 and the match 3-0.
Neumann (10-15) will host Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday in conference action as it celebrates this year's seniors. The match is slated for get underway at 7:00 PM.
