ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team was edged by Concordia University (Wisc.) 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
Megan Frame made one save in net and
Haley Craft had a defensive save. The defensive line played well, keeping the ball outside the circle and moving the ball towards offensive zone.
Elle Smith was a force in the center of the field, working the transition passing well and forcing the Falcons to play the ball wide.
Gianna Guido was even more scrappy than usual in the center defense and shutdown the Concordia attack all game.
The Knights outshot the Falcons 3-2 in the first quarter. Neumann's three shots came in a push in the 14
th minute, getting a penalty corner after the first shot.
Bri Zuspann had a strong game up front, generating some scoring chances.
Concordia broke through in the 25
th minute with a shot that was deflected from the top of the circle.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Knights had a penalty corner, but could not convert to tie the game.
Neumann (2-13) will host Bryn Athyn on Monday afternoon, beginning at 4:00 PM.
