ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team fell to SUNY Geneseo 6-3 on Friday evening in the 2021-22 season opener.
Nate Dunning got the scoring started as he scored five minutes into the game.
Austin Boyle and
Richie Brusco had the assists on the first goal. Geneseo tied the game at one less than a minute later.
Geneseo took a 2-1 lead with a power play goal at the 15:43 mark. Neumann answered back just over a minute later with a power play goal of its own as
Brady Mistler scored his first collegiate goal. Brusco picked up his second assist of the game while
Barry Kneedler notched the other assist. The teams went into the first intermission knotted at two.
The Geneseo Knights netted four goals in a six minute span midway through the second period for a 6-2 lead.
Midway through the third period,
Luke Croucher netted his first collegiate goal off an assist by
Dionne Demke for Neumann's third goal..
Kyle Pantalone started the game and played the first two periods in net. The senior captain made 18 saves in net in 40 minutes.
Zach Richards made his collegiate debut in net and made 14 saves in net in the third period.
Neumann (0-1) is right back on the ice tomorrow afternoon as it hosts SUNY Brockport. The puck is slated for drop at 4:00 PM.
