DUDLEY, Mass. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision at Nichols College on Friday evening in the season opener.
Michelle Winand-Bacon was busy in net, making 57 saves in net over the 60 minutes. In addition to the saves, the Knights had 30 blocked shots.
Emma Tauken had six blocks while
Katelyn Brown blocked five.
The Bison opened the scoring midway through the first period and held the 1-0 lead at the first intermission. Nichols scored just 14 seconds into the second period and added two more goals for a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes. The Bison added another goal in the third for the 5-0 lead.
Neumann (0-1) will face Nichols again tomorrow afternoon to look for the split on opening weekend. The puck is slated to drop at 2:40 PM.
