ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team fell to Immaculata University 4-0 in the Atlantic East Conference opener on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mighty Macs opened the scoring in the fifth minute on a cross. The Knights had a chance to tie the game in the second quarter, but
Rachel Koerner's shot went wide. Immaculata held the 1-0 lead at halftime.
Immaculata took a 2-0 lead in the 41
st minute. The Mighty Macs then capitalized on a corner in the 49
th minute and scored on a breakaway in the 54
th minute for the 4-0 game.
The Knights and Mighty Macs traded possession throughout the game, Neumann just couldn't take advantage of its chances.
Megan Frame made two saves in net to keep the Knights in the game for most of the contest.
Neumann (2-9, 0-1 Atlantic East) continues conference action on Saturday when it heads to St. Mary's (Md.). The game is slated to begin at 1:00 PM.
