ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Neumann University field hockey team fell at St. Mary's College of Maryland 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference match-up.
The Knights and Seahawks played a scoreless first quarter. St. Mary's scored two goals in the final five minutes of the second quarter to take a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Seahawks scored two more goals in the third quarter, before the teams played to a scoreless fourth quarter.
Megan Frame made eight saves in net for the Knights. From coach Enters, "Frame played a very strong game in the cage, playing higher in the circle to force errors by the attackers." St. Mary's kept Neumann shotless in the game.
Rachel Koerner had a gritty performance at center midfield, forcing St. Mary's down the sidelines.
Lizzie Frame stood strong in the defensive zone, with effective strong hits to clear the ball.
Neumann (2-9, 0-2 Atlantic East) is back home on Wednesday afternoon to host Cabrini in more Atlantic East Conference action. The game is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
