ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Immaculata University in straight sets, 3-0, on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up. Set scores were 25-12, 25-14 and 25-11.
Regan Hickey led the Knights with nine kills.
Maria Brown added six.
Dani Smith handed out 16 assists and 10 service aces.
Bre Hickey notched 10 digs.
The match started with the teams trading points. With the Knights holding an 11-10 lead,
Catie Esslinger served Neumann to an 18-10 lead. After Immaculata picked up two points, Smith tallied three of her 10 services aces to put the Knights up 24-12. Traded attack errors gave Neumann the 25-13 first set win.
In the second set, it was serving by Pena that took a 13-9 lead and increased it to 21-9. Once again, attack errors ended the set, giving the Knights a 25-14 set two win.
Down 10-9 in the third set, Smith stepped up and tallied six service aces as she brought the Knights to match point, 24-10. The teams then traded service errors and Neumann took set three 25-11 and the match 3-0.
Neumann (10-11, 2-0 Atlantic East) travels to Marymount University on Friday evening for more Atlantic East action. The match is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 PM.
