Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey Comes Up Just Short at Stevenson

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - The Neumann University men's hockey team fell on the road at Stevenson University on Saturday evening by a score of 5-3 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC).

Barry Kneedler tallied a goal and an assist in the loss, while Hunter Litman and Nick Martino also scored. Kyle Pantalone got the start in goal and made 23 saves.

Hoping to extend its point streak to four games, Neumann would have its work cut out versus a tough Mustang team. Stevenson started the game strongly, taking the play to the Knights early in the contest. The hosts outshot Neumann by a count of 11-8 and scored twice to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Things would get even worse for the Knights in the second stanza. Stevenson doubled Neumann's trouble in the period, tallying twice more to take a commanding 4-0 lead with 10:29 left in the frame. The visitors wouldn't quit on the game though, rallying late in the period with a Litman goal to bring the deficit back to three goals moving to the third.

Using the late period momentum to their advantage, the Knights continued to fight back in the final frame. The team's power-play once again took center-stage as Neumann recorded two goals with the man-advantage from Martino and Kneedler midway through the period to make it 4-3 with 8:07 left. The visitors did everything they could to get the game tied, but could not find an equalizer. The Knights pulled Pantalone late trying to find a tying goal, but an empty netter from the Mustangs sealed the 5-3 victory for Stevenson.

Neumann (2-5-1, 2-3-1 UCHC) will have two weeks off before returning to action Friday, December 3rd for a home conference game versus Manhattanville College. Pick-drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
