ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's hockey team wrapped up first semester conference action with a 3-1 win over Manhattanville College on Friday evening in a UCHC matchup.
All scoring took place in the first 20 minutes.
Dexton Mozell opened the scoring early as he netted an unassisted goal 1:45 into the game.
Nick Martino notched a power play goal at the 4:24 mark off assists from
Brady Mistler and
Tyler Kulas for an early 2-0 Neumann lead.
The Valiants cut the lead in half with just over five minutes left in the first period.
Dionne Demke then used an almost empty net to score off an assist from
Yancy Whitaker for a 3-1 game after one period.
Neither team could light the lamp in the final 40 minutes, But the action kept coming. Neumann held Manhattanville off the board on the power play as the Valiants finished 0-for-8 on the man advantage.
Kyle Pantalone was busy, making 46 saves in net for the win. The Knights had 11 block shots, led by
Devin Joyce with four.
Austin Boyle had a few breakaway chances shorthanded but could not get the puck in the back of the net.
Neumann (3-5-1, 2-3-1 UCHC) will wrap up the semester next weekend with some non-conference action. The Knights head to Albertus Magnus on Friday. The puck is slated to drop at 5:00 PM.
