ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team opened United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) action on Friday evening, falling to King's College (Pa.) 6-3.
Zach Richards made his first collegiate start in net and made 19 saves in the loss.
Luke Croucher opened the scoring 2:34 into the game as he capitalized on a breakaway.
Tom McGuire and
Barry Kneedler drew the assists.
Tyler Kulas put the Knights up 2-0 midway through the second period on the power play.
Richie Brusco and
Brady Mistler had the assists. Neumann took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Monarchs cut the lead in half 6:26 into the second period.
Cameron Hatziioannou scored his first collegiate goal midway through the period off the first collegiate assist from
Wyatt Wong for a 3-1 lead. King's pulled to 3-2 with 1:19 left in the period for a 3-2 score at the second intermission.
King's tied the game early in the third period. The Monarchs then tallied two power play goals at the 14:43 and 17:44 marks to take a 5-3 lead. King's sealed the win with an empty net goal in the final minute.
Neumann (0-3, 0-1 UCHC) will host Wilkes tomorrow afternoon in conference action beginning at 4:00 PM.
