ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell on the road at Nazareth College on Thursday evening by a score of 11-0 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action.
Michelle Winand-Bacon and
Emma Swansburg split time in goal in the loss, combining for 56 saves on the evening.
The Golden Flyers would show why they are still undefeated on the season during Thursday's conference contest. Nazareth scored early and often in the first frame, jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead after one period of play.
Neumann continued to be stymied in the second stanza, as the hosts kept their shutout bid alive while holding the Knights to just one shot on goal. The Golden Flyers tacked on five more tallies in the period to take a commanding 9-0 lead into the second intermission.
The visitors played a much better final 20 minutes, but could still not solve the Nazareth net-minder. The Golden Flyers were also able to find the back of the net two more times as the game finished 11-0.
Neumann (1-9-1, 1-5-1 UCHC) will look to fight back for a win tomorrow evening when it rematches Nazareth. Puck-drop is slated for 6:45 PM.
