CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University men's basketball team dropped a 76-61 decision at Washington College (Md.) on Tuesday evening.
Kyson Rawls and
Jalen Vaughns each scored 13 points for Neumann.
Ryan Starr hit four three-pointers for 12 points.
TJ Lewis added 10 points.
Tony James grabbed 12 rebounds.
Up by one, 5-4, the Shoremen went on a 7-0 run to take a 12-4 advantage five minutes into the contest. The Knights netted the next five to pull back within three, 12-9. The teams went back and forth as the clock ticked towards halftime. Washington then took a 10-point lead, 34-24, with three minutes remaining in the half and would hold a lead as large as 13, 38-25, in the first. Rawls hit a jumper as the last basket of the half for a 38-27 Shoremen lead at the break.
Washington held a double-digit lead throughout most of the second half. On two occasions, the Knights cut the deficit to nine, 38-29 and 57-48. The Shoremen's largest lead came at the 13:46 mark of the second half with a 55-37 advantage. Neumann went on an 11-2 run for the 57-48 score midway through the half, but Washington went right back up into a double-digit lead and took the game 76-61.
Neumann (5-3) returns home on Thursday to host Lancaster Bible beginning at 7:30 PM.
