ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Neumann University men's basketball team opened 2021 play at St. Mary's College (Md.) in an exhibition contest Friday evening. The Knights fell to the Seahawks 82-49.
 
Kyson Rawls netted 16 points in his debut with the Knights. Kamal Yellowdy added eight points. Justin Smith pulled down nine rebounds and scored six points. Mohamed Kante grabbed six boards.
 
The Seahawks opened the game by scored the first eight points. Rawls put the Knights on the board with a three-pointer. St. Mary's answered with an 8-1 run for a 21-4 lead midway through the first half. Rawls wrapped the scoring for Neumann in the half, but the Seahawks held a 48-25 lead at the break.
 
The teams traded points over the first five minutes of the second half. St. Mary's then put the pressure back on and went on a 19-0 run during the middle part of the half to extend its lead. The Seahawks came away with the 82-49 win in the exhibition contest.
 
Neumann and St. Mary's will meet for another exhibition game on Thursday. This time, the Knights will host the Seahawks at the Mirenda Center.
