Baseball Suffers First Set Back

DOVER, Del. – The Neumann University baseball team suffered its first set back of the season, falling to Wesley College 8-4 on Monday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
 
Colin Pollard had three hits and scored two runs in the game. Cris Diaz knocked in three runs. Billy Hunt started the game on the mound and went 4.0 innings. He allowed four runs on five hits and struck out a pair in the loss. Vin Vargas went two innings and allowed four runs on four hits. Brennan Hatala also pitched two innings and allowed a hit.
 
Between the teams, there were five homeruns in the contest. The Wolverines hit the first homerun in the bottom of the first for an early 2-0 lead. The Knights took advantage of a Wolverines error in the third and Diaz knocked in Pollard and Andrew Fowler to tie the game at two.
 
Wesley answered right back with another two-run homerun in the bottom of the third. The Wolverines added two more runs in the fifth for a 6-2 lead. Diaz hit a solo shot in the top of the sixth before Wesley hit its third two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-3 lead.
 
Pollard hit a solo homerun in the seventh for the Knight's fourth run. Neumann was able to get runners on base in the top of the ninth but could not push a run across and fell 8-4.
 
Neumann (3-1) will stay in conference action when it will host Immaculata on Friday, April 9. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
