IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up its first Atlantic East Conference win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, taking down host Immaculata University on the road by a score of 14-12.
 
Lindsey Fagan (6 g) and Brylin Adams (4 g, 1 a) carried the Neumann offense on the afternoon, while Reilly Fiedler also had a pair of goals. Catriona Corrigan and Ava Irwin split time in goal, combining for eight saves in the win.
 
Hungry for their first conference win of the season, the Knights came out strong to open Wednesday's rainy contest. Adams set the tone for the day, scoring just 48 seconds into the game to give Neumann an early 1-0 lead. The Mighty Macs tied the game at the 25:37 mark, but the Knights would use a 5-0 run midway through the half to open up a 6-1 advantage. Fagan led the charge for the visitors in the run, scoring three consecutive goals in a four minute span as Neumann picked up a bit of breathing room. Immaculata kept things interesting though late in the half, scoring four of the final six goals of the half to cut the lead to 8-5 at the break. The Knights received two more goals from Adams and one goal a piece from Fiedler and Abby Kelton to round out the team's scoring in the half.
 
The two teams continued to battle back and forth in the second stanza. Immaculata got back to within two at 8-6 2:17 into the half, but three unanswered goals from the Knights' Keri Mallon, Fagan and Fiedler reopened a five-goal advantage at 11-6 with 25 minutes left to play. However, the Mighty Macs would not go quietly, going on a 3-0 run of their own to bring the deficit back to two as they made it 11-9 with about half of the frame to go. Needing a spark to regain momentum in the matchup, Neumann again turned to Fagan, who tallied twice in two minutes to build the lead back to 13-9. Immaculata again answered with a pair of goals to stay in the game, but a goal from Adams at the 7:54 mark and some solid defense down the stretch helped the Knights keep the hosts at bay. The Mighty Macs scored with 1:18 remaining to cut the lead back to two, but it was not enough as the Knights brought home the hard-fought 14-12 win.
 
Neumann (2-1, 1-1 Atlantic East) will have the weekend off before returning home for another Atlantic East showdown with Wesley University next Wednesday, April 7th. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
