Baseball Drops First Contest Against Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped the opening game at Marymount University 11-3 on Friday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
 
Andrew Curran started the game for the Knights and went 5.2 innings. He allowed eight runs, seven earned, on four hits. Brennan Hatala pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three runs on four hits.
 
Marymount got on the board first with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the third. Cris Diaz hit a solo homerun in the top of the fourth to put the Knights on the board. Marcus White walked to lead off the fifth and scored on a double by Nick Glebocki for a 3-2 game.
 
The Saints hit another homerun in the fifth, a two-run shot, to extend their lead back to three, 5-2. Marymount added three more in the sixth, one in the seventh for a 9-2 lead.
 
Andrew Fowler crossed the plate for the Knights in the eighth on a wild pitch for a 9-3 score. The Saints added two more in the home half of the eight en route to the 11-3 win.  
 
Neumann (5-5, 2-5 Atlantic East) will host Marymount for a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 12:00 PM.
