ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at day one of the Buttermaker Tournament on Friday. The Knights defeated Penn State Abington 3-0 before falling to Pitt-Bradford 3-0.
Against the Lion, the Knights won by set scores or 25-12, 27-25 and 25-10.
Ariana Pena led the Knights with 11 kills, no errors and a .786 hitting percentage.
Dani Smith handed out 22 assists and tallied seven service aces.
Bre Hickey notched 10 digs.
Against the Panthers, Neumann fell by scores or 25-19, 25-18 and 25-18. Pena again led the Knights with nine kills. Smith dished out 16 assists while
Catie Esslinger added 12. Hickey tallied 15 digs and
Regan Hickey added 10.
Neumann (2-4) will be right back in action tomorrow in day two of the tournament. The Knights will face Gallaudet at 12:00 PM and host Muhlenberg at 2:00 PM.
