READING, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision at Penn State Berks on Tuesday evening.
Bre Hickey led the Knights with eight kills, 11 digs and four service aces.
Ariana Pena added seven kills.
Catie Esslinger dished out 13 assists and 14 digs.
Dani Smith handed out 12 assists and 10 digs.
Regan Hickey notched 12 digs.
The Knights battled to a first set 26-24 win. The Lions took a 23-21 lead in the back and forth set before Neumann rattled off three straight points for a 24-23 lead. After Penn State Berks tie the set at 24, Pena gave the Knights their 25
th point and then took the set on a Lions attack error.
Penn State Berks took the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-15, for a 2-1 match lead.
In set four, the Knights took a 10-10 score and built a 19-10 advantage behind key serving of B. Hickey. The Lions chipped their way back into the set and pulled to within one, 22-21, after scoring seven straight points. After a Neumann point, Penn State Berks tallied three straight for a 24-23 edge. The Knights tied the set at 24 off an attack error. But the Lions took the next two points for the 26-24 fourth set win and 3-1 match win.
Neumann (4-5) will host its annual Knights Invitational this weekend. The Knights will face Haverford at 8:00 PM on Friday evening.
