ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team battled against Haverford College as it hosted the 2021 Knights Invitational on Friday evening. The Knights fell to the Fords 3-1.
 
Bre Hickey led the Knights with 12 kills, 15 digs and five service aces. Ariana Pena and Regan Hickey each added 11 kills. Tori Burgess notched 19 digs and R. Hickey tallied 16. Dani Smith handed out 25 assists and Catie Esslinger dished out 16.
 
The Knights started the match by scoring the first eight points of the set. The Fords chipped their way back into the set and took an 18-17 lead after scoring six straight points. Ties at 22, Haverford scored the next three for the 25-22 first set win.
 
The second set was also close. Tied at 16, two kills by B. Hickey, one by Pena and R. Hickey put the Knights up 20-16. Neumann netted four of the next six points for s 24-18 advantage. A kill by Lauren Garvey gave the Knights the 25-19 second set win to tie the match at one.
 
The Fords took an early 13-3 lead in the third set. Despite some runs by the Knights, Haverford took set three 25-15. Haverford used a few mini runs in the fourth en route to a 25-17 win and 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (4-6) will continue play in the Knights Invitational tomorrow. The Knights will face Pitt-Bradford at 10:00 AM followed by Messiah at 2:00 PM.
