HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University field hockey team hit the road and brought back a 4-1 win from Centenary University on Wednesday afternoon.
Kylie Fitchett netted two goals for the Knights.
Rachel Koerner and
Lexi Stouffer each tallied a goal and an assist. Koerner led the team with four shots.
Gianna Guido added three shots.
Sydney Volpe added a much-needed spark on the field with her energetic play and
Lexi Everett's stick handling paved the way for Neumann to get onto the scoreboard.
Megan Frame made one save in net for the win.
Ava Irwin saw time in the fourth quarter and did not face a shot. Neumann outshot Centenary 18-3 overall and 12-2 on net.
Koerner opened the scoring in the fifth minute of play off an assist from
Ronni Johnson. Stouffer put the Knights up 2-0 in the 12
th minute.
Elle Smith drew the assist as Neumann went up 2-0 after the first quarter.
Fitchett scored her first goal of the afternoon in the 24
th minute, as Stouffer got her the ball and the Knights took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Cyclones scored their long goal just over a minute into the third quarter. Fitchett scored her second goal, off an assist from Koerner, in the 56
th minute.
Neumann (2-5) will return home to host William Paterson on Saturday afternoon. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
