CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split tri-match action on Saturday afternoon. The Knights dropped a 3-0 decision to host Widener before defeating Clarks Summit 3-0.
Against the Pride, the set scores were 25-20, 25-18 and 25-18.
Lauren Garvey tallied nine kills.
Regan Hickey added eight.
Dani Smith handed out 17 assists.
Catie Esslinger added 10 assists.
Tori Burgess notched 17 digs.
The start of the match went back and forth. Widener then took a 14-12 deficit and scored eight consecutive points for a 20-14 lead. The teams went back to going back and forth, but the Knights couldn't get a run of their own and dropped the first set 25-20.
Against the Defenders, the Knights won by set scores of 25-10, 25-9 and 25-10.
Ariana Pena tallied 18 kills, no errors and a .900 hitting percentage. Smith dished out 21 assists. Burgess added nine kills.
Smith added six service aces.
Bre Hickey and Pena each added four while the team finished with 18 service aces.
Neumann (6-9) heads to Rowan on Tuesday for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 PM.
