RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team fell in a battle at Cabrini University, 3-1, on Wednesday evening in Atlantic East Conference action.
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 14 kills.
Maria Brown and
Jules Dill each added nine and
Lauren Garvey tallied eight.
Dani Smith handed out 39 assists.
Claudia Bournazel notched 36 digs. Smith and Hickey each added 11 digs. Bournazel and Hickey each also had three service aces.
Each set game down to the wire. The Cavaliers opened the made by taking a 6-1 lead. The Knights pulled back to within three, 12-9. Cabrini answered by scoring five of the next six points for a 17-10 lead. The Cavaliers took set one 25-19.
In set two, Cabrini again took an early lead, 8-3. Down 14-11, the Knights tallied five straight points to take a 16-14 edge. Leading 21-20, Neumann got four straight kills to take set two 25-20 and tie the match at one.
The Knights used six straight points in set three to take a 12-9 lead. The Cavaliers answered by scoring six of the next seven to retake the lead, 15-13. The teams went back and forth before Cabrini was able to score five of seven points to take set three 25-20.
The Knights took an early 4-1 lead in the fourth set. The teams went back and forth and with Neumann leading 14-13, Cabrini scored eight of the next nine points to take a 21-15 advantage. The Knights stayed with the Cavaliers down the stretch, but could not get a run going and fell 25-21 in set four.
Neumann (7-15, 0-2 Atlantic East) heads to Gwynedd Mercy on Friday evening for more conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
