ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Centenary University in straight set, 3-0, on Tuesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference match-up. Set scores were 25-9, 25-11 and 25-14.
 
Prior to the match, the Knights horned their one senior on the team Maria Brown, thanking her for all she did while being a part of the women's volleyball team and wish her luck in all her future endeavors.
 
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 12 kills (.429 hitting percentage), eight digs and six service aces. Lauren Garvey (.444 hitting percentage) and Brown (.750 hitting percentage, zero errors) each added nine kills. Dani Smith handed out 28 assists and added 10 digs.
 
All 13 Knights saw time in the match, making the win a total team effort.
 
Centenary started the first set taking an early 4-1 lead. As the teams went back and forth, the Knights took a 9-8 edge. Neumann then scored four straight points. After a service error, Hickey served Neumann to 12 straight points and a 25-9 set one win.
 
The second set started like the first with the teams battling back and forth. Leading by one, 6-5, Neumann scored nine of the next 10 points to take a 15-6 lead. The Knights kept the pressure on and came away with a 25-11 set two win.  
 
The third set again went back and forth before the Knights rattled off five straight points for a 9-3 lead. Brown got the final point with a kill, sealing the win for her senior night.
 
Neumann (9-15, 2-2 Atlantic East) will host Marywood University and Eastern University on Saturday for a home tri-match. The Knights will face the Pacers in the first match beginning at 11:00 AM.
