ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split a tri-match at home on Saturday, picking up a 3-0 conference win over Marywood, before falling to Eastern 3-0.
In the win over the Pacers, the set scores were 25-19, 25-22, 25-15.
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 17 kills and a .483 hitting percentage. She also added 10 digs.
Lauren Garvey tallied 12 kills and nine digs.
Dani Smith handed out 39 assists.
Claudia Bournazel notched 11 digs.
Leading 16-13 in the first set, the Knights scored six straight points for a 22-13 advantage. The Pacers tried to make a run and pulled with five, 24-19, but a service error gave Neumann the 25-19 set one win. Down the stretch of set two, the teams traded points until a kill by Garvey have the Knights the 25-22 win.
The Knights jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in set three and took the set with ease, 25-15, for the 3-0 match win.
Against Eastern, Hickey tallied nine kills. Smith dished out 28 assists. Bournazel notched 12 digs.
With Eastern leading 15-10 in the first set, the Eagles scored eight points and 10 of the next 11 for the 25-11 set one win. The Knights kept the second set close and was within one, 21-20, then the Eagles tallied three straight points. Kills by Mansel and
Maria Brown made the score 24-22. An Eastern kill gave the Eagles the 25-22 second set win.
The third set went back and forth as well. With Eastern leading 21-16, Neumann rattled off four points to pull within one, 21-20. The Eagles were able to take the next four points for the 25-20 set three win and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (10-16, 3-2 Atlantic East) heads to Immaculata on Wednesday night to wrap up regular season conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
