GENESEO, N.Y. – The Neumann University Men's ice hockey team opened their 2022-23 season with a 3-0 loss to No. 2 SUNY Geneseo on Friday evening
Neumann held SUNY Geneseo off the board until there was 2:12 left in the first period. The Geneseo Knights took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Geneseo scored twice in the first five-plus minutes of the second period for a 3-0 lead.
The Knights went 0-4 on the power play. Neumann put 25 pucks on net, which were all stopped.
Cole DeFazio made his first collegiate start in net and made 41 saves. The Knights blocked 13 shots, led by
Mykyta Volobuyev and
Joe DiGiulio each with three.
Neumann (0-1) will travel to Brockport tomorrow for game two of the weekend. Face off is set for 4:00 PM
