HENNIKER, N.H. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team dropped a 6-2 decision at New England College on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights got off to a quick start, scoring in the first minute of the game.
Cecelia Mick grabbed the goal for the Knights.
Jamiyah Alexander picked up her first collegiate assist on the goal. The Pioneers answered quickly and tied the game a minute later. New England took a 2-1 lead with a power play goal midway through the period.
Rachel Frederick knotted the game at two with 1:59 left before the intermission.
Gabby Massa drew the assist and the teams went into the locker rooms tied at two.
The Pioneers took a 3-2 lead five minutes into the second period and added another goal with 6:46 on the clock. New England scored two more goals in the third period for the 6-2 final.
Michelle Winand-Bacon made 47 save between the pipes. The Knights blocked 14 shots, led by
Gia Santorello with four and
Mikaylee Henhawk with three.
Neumann (0-2) will open UCHC play next weekend when hosts Wilkes for the home opener. Face-off on Saturday is slated for 4:00 PM.
