Women’s Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season Action

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of contests on Saturday in the final regular season matches. The Knights fell to DeSales and Stockton 3-0.
 
In the first match, Neumann fell to DeSales 3-0. Set scores were 25-23, 26-24 and 25-13. Lauren Garvey led the Knights with 10 kills. Regan Hickey added nine. Dani Smith handed out 22 assists and 12 digs. Claudia Bournazel added 10 digs.
 
Early in set one, Neumann took a 3-3 score and notched six straight points for a 9-3 advantage. DeSales worked its was back and took a 17-16 lead with three consecutive points. The teams remained neck-and-neck and were tied at 23 before two Bulldogs kills gave DeSales a 25-23 first set win.
 
The teams battled in set two. The Knights took a 24-23 edge late in the match, but the Bulldogs answered with three points for the 26-24 set two win. DeSales scored the first four points of the third set and didn't look back, taking the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
 
In the second match of the day, the Knights dropped a 3-0 decision to Stockton. Set scores were 25-23, 25-18, 25-20.
 
Hickey tallied nine kills, while Maria Brown added eight. Smith dished out 24 assists. Bournazel added 10 digs.
 
The Ospreys jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first set. The Knights started to chip away pulled within one, 10-9 and tied the match at 15. Down 24-20, Neumann scored three straight points for a 24-23 score. Before the Knights were able to tie the set, Stockton notched set points for the 25-23 win.
 
In set two, Stockton held a slim 19-18 advantage before scoring the final six points for the 25-18 set two win. The Ospreys took set three 25-20 to take the match 3-0.
 
Neumann (11-18) will get ready to host a first round Atlantic East playoff game on Tuesday evening. The No. 3 seeded Knights will host No. 6 seeded Centenary beginning at 7:00 PM.
