ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped the Atlantic East Conference opener 3-0 to Marymount University on Wednesday evening.
 
Sophomore Dani Smith reached her 1,000^th career assist in the first set of the match. She finished with 24 assists in the match. Regan Hickey led the Knights with 11 kills, Lauren Garvey had seven and Jules Dill added six. Claudia Bournazel tallied 12 digs. Tori Burgess and Hickey each notched eight
 
The second point of the match was a kill by Hickey, assist by Smith, giving her 1,000 career assists. The Saints then built a 16-8 lead and took set one 25-15.
 
Set two was tied at three when Marymount scored eight straight points for an 11-3 advantage. Ahead 18-12, Marymount again went on run to get to set point, 24-12. The Knights scored three points before the Saints took the set 25-15.
 
In set three, Neumann took an early 5-2 lead. Marymount took a 7-6 lead and the teams went back and forth for a bit. Leading 10-9, the Saints were able to score five straight points for a 15-9 advantage. Marymount scored the final four points of the match for a 25-14 set three win and 3-0 match win.
 
Neumann (7-11, 0-1 Atlantic East) Head to a quad match in Selinsgrove, PA this weekend. The Knights will face Susquehanna, Vassar, and Theil College. The first match is set for 7:00PM on Friday.
