SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Susquehanna University on Friday evening in its first match at the Susquehanna Quad Match.
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 11 kills and 12 digs.
Dani Smith handed out 23 assists.
Claudia Bournazel tallied 10 digs.
The River Hawks opened the match by scoring the first five points. As Susquehanna reached set point, the Knights were able to score six straight points, but it wasn't enough and dropped set one 25-17.
Susquehanna jumped out to an early 7-3 lead. Neumann worked back to within one, 9-8, before the River Hawks scored six of the next seven points. The teams went back and forth, but the Knights could not get more than a few points in a row and fell 25-19 in set two.
Set three started out much like the first two. The Knights pulled as close as 16-14 and stayed within striking reach A Hickey kill brought Neumann to within one, 21-20, but the River Hawks were able to get four of the next five points and take the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
Neumann (7-12) will face Vassar (1:00 PM) and Thiel (3:00 PM) tomorrow in day two of the quad match at Susquehanna.
