ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann men's ice hockey fell to King's College 5-2 in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) matchup on Friday night.
The Monarchs opened the scoring quickly, getting on the board 2:25 into the game. The Knights tie the game at one at the 5:52 mark as Brady Mistler scored. Tyler Kulas and Joe DiGiulio tallied the assists. As the first period was winding down, King's broke the 1-1 with a power play goal and took the 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Each team scored a goal in the second period. Kings scored early in the second as well, making it a 3-1 game 2:05 into the period. With 2:52 left on the clock, the Knights cut the lead to one, 3-2, as Luke Croucher scored. Joey Mancuso and Dexton Mozell notched the assists.
The Monarchs added an insurance goal on the power play midway through the third. King's then added an empty net goal in the final minute of play for the 5-2 final.
Cole DeFazio made 22 saves in net. The Knights outshot Kings 39-27, led by Mancuso with six.
Neumann (1-4, 0-3 UCHC) will host King's tomorrow afternoon for another conference matchup. Face-off is set for 4:00 PM.
