ASTON, Pa. –- The Neumann University Men's ice hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to Assumption University 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds scored the only goal of the first period at the 5:58 mark. Assumption added two more goals in the second period for a 3-0 heading into the final 20 minutes.
The Knights scored 3:04 into the third period for a 3-1 game.
Dionne Demke found the back of the net off a rebound from
Wyatt Wong. Neumann tried to cut the lead to one, but midway through the period Assumption took back the three-goal advantage, 4-1. As time was winding down, the Greyhounds sealed the win with a goal in the final minute for the 5-1 final.
All goals were even strength. There were just three penalties called in the game.
Assumption outshot the Knights 37-30.
Nate Dunning led the Knights with six shots.
Cal Ambrose made 32 saves in net for Neumann, including a few on Assumption breakaways.
Neumann (2-6) and Assumption will face-off again tomorrow beginning at 2:00 PM
