Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Knights Edged by Golden Wolves, 4-3

READING, Pa. – The Neumann men's ice hockey team was edged 4-3 at Alvernia University in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) matchup on Saturday night.
 
The first period went back and forth to get things started. Alvernia got on the board first with a power play goal at the 6:51 mark. Three goals were scored in the final five minutes of the period. Devin Joyce scored to tie the game at one, off an assist from Tyler Kulas, at the 15:11 mark. The Golden Wolves took the lead back two minutes later. With 1:49 left before the first intermission, Joe DiGiulio tied the game at two with assists from Brady Mistler and Dionne Demke.
 
Alvernia scored the only goal of the second period on a man advantage, to take a 3-2 lead into the final 20 minutes.
 
The Golden Wolves added to their lead with a goal midway through the third period. Kulas pulled the Knights back to within one, 4-3, just over a minute later. Cameron Hatziioannou tallied the assist. Neumann pulled the goalie as time was winding down in regulation. The Knights were able to get seven shots off, five on net, but could not get the equalizer and the game ended 4-3.
 
The Knights outshot the Golden Wolves 36-29. Luke Croucher and DiGiulio each had five shots to lead the team. Cal Ambrose made 25 saves in his first start of the season.
 
Neumann (1-3, 0-2 UCHC) will host Kings College next weekend for a pair of conference games. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM on Friday.
