ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team used a total team effort to defeat Rosemont College 88-64 on Tuesday evening.
Jalen Vaughns led the Knights with 25 points. The junior added seven rebounds.
Justin Smith tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Kyle Thompson added 12 points off the bench. All 15 Knights that hit the court notched at least a two-points or a rebound.
After trading baskets to start the game, Neumann scored seven straight points. From there, the Knights held the pace of the game. Midway through the first half, Neumann took advantage of some Rosemont turnovers to increase its lead to double digits.
TJ Lewis stole the ball and made the fastbreak layup for an 11 points advantage, 23-12. A minute later, Lewis stole the ball again and dished it to Vaughns. Vaughns finished with 21 points in the first half as the Knights took a 42-21 lead into the half.
The Knights continued their domination the second half as the starters subbed out and the bench saw some minutes. A three-pointer by
David Vazquez put Neumann up by 40, 69-29, with nine minutes left in regulation. The Ravens kept the pressure on and chipped into the deficit. The Knights used the lead built until that point to come away with the win.
Amari Little sealed the game with two free throws.
Neumann (7-3) will host Washington College (Md.) in a non-conference game on Thursday evening. Tip-off is slated at 7:00 PM.
