ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's ice hockey team suffered its second setback in as many days on Saturday afternoon, succumbing to Chatham University by a score of 4-1 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play.

Georgia Wunder recorded the Neumann goal in the loss, while
Michelle Winand-Bacon made 40 saves in goal for the Knights.

Neumann hoped to rebound from a 6-1 loss to the Cougars on Friday night, but Chatham would not make it easy on the Knights early in Saturday's contest. The visitors doubled up Neumann in shots in the opening period by a count of 17-8 and took an early 1-0 lead with a goal 5:24 into the matchup. Winand-Bacon kept the hosts in the game with a 16-save first frame to keep the differential just one heading to the second.

A penalty filled second period saw peaks and valleys for both teams. Chatham started strongly in the stanza, using a two-man advantage to score at 2:54 to make it 2-0 in favor of the visitors. Neumann retaliated just minutes later though with a power-play of its own, as Wunder banged home a loose puck in the crease to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 5:01 mark.
Gabby Massa nearly tied the contest later in the period, but her seeing-eye shot from the right circle rattled the goal post as the game remained tied. The Cougars had a golden chance to widen their league late in the frame on a four-minute power-play, but a steady Neumann penalty-kill kept the visitors at bay and sent the game to the third with the 2-1 score-line intact.

The Knights threw everything they could at Chatham in the third, but the Cougars proved to be too much for the second consecutive day. Winand-Bacon made several early period saves to keep the deficit just one goal, but the visitors wore her down late in the frame, scoring twice in the final eight minutes to seal the conference win.

Neumann (2-18-2, 2-14-2 UCHC) will close out its season next weekend when the team plays host to Manhattanville College. Puck-drop for Friday's tilt is skated for 7:00 PM.
