Men’s Basketball to Face Williams in NCAA First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Neumann University men's basketball team has learned where its heading for the NCAA First Round. The Knights will head to Alliance, Ohio to face Williams College on Friday.
 
The University of Mount Union will serve as the host for the weekend. Stevens will face host Mt. Union in the other game on Friday evening.
 
Neumann and Williams will tip-off at 3:20 PM, followed by Mt. Union and Stevens at 5:50 PM.
 
The Knights received the Atlantic East Conference automatic bid after winning the 2022 Atlantic East Title last weekend. Neumann defeated Marymount 61-59 as it came from behind and hit the winning basket in the final three seconds. Tony James was named the MVP as he finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Jalen Vaughns netted 23 points. TJ Lewis added 11 points while Ryan Starr tallied nine.
 
For the season, Neumann is led by Vaughns, who was named the Atlantic East Player of the Year.  He is averaging 22.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game over 28 contests. The sophomore leads the team with 32 blocks. James was named the Atlantic East Defender of the year and is adding 11.3 points per game. The junior has dished out 65 assists.
 
Lewis adds 9.8 pointer per game and has handed out 61 assists. Starr leads the team in three-pointers with 36 this season while also handing out 121 assists and taking 33 steals.

This is the third appearance by Neumann in the NCAA Tournament, all under Coach Rullo. The Knights first appearance came in the 2014-15 season when they won their first CSAC Championship and faced Mt. Union in the first round. In 2016-17, Neumann hosted the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament.  
 
Neumann is currently 21-7 overall, led by the Atlantic East Coaching Staff of the Year Jim Rullo, Fran Maxwell and Phil D'Ambrosio. The winners on Friday will face-off on Saturday.
