ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 win over Rosemont College in the home opener Thursday evening. Set scored were 25-7, 25-10 and 25-17.
Nick Shortlidge and
Josiah Melendez each had seven kills for the Knights.
Brandon Baskerville tallied eight digs and six kills.
Jules Maiorano handed out 24 assists and seven digs. The Knight notched 25 service aces, led by
Eric Van Horn with seven. Baskerville added six.
The Knights jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in set one as Shortlidge tallied four early service aces. A kill by
Joe Saxton sealed the 25-7 first set win.
The second set started more back and forth. Leading 6-4, Van Horn rattled off four of his service aces as part of building a 12-4 advantage. A service aces by Baskerville gave the Knights the 25-10 set two win.
Set three was also a battle, but another kill by Saxton gave Neumann the 25-17 set win and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (1-3) and Rosemont will meet again on Saturday this time at Rosemont. The match is slated to begin at 12:00 PM.
