Women's Lacrosse Picks Up Win at Eastern

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. - After a tough mid-week loss, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team responded with a big 18-7 win over host Eastern University in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The dynamic duo of Lindsey Fagan and Brylin Adams continued to carry the Knights' attack on the day. Fagan scored seven times, while Adams chipped in with two goals and three assists. Bekah Brosky, Reilly Fiedler and Alison Mallon also all tallied twice in the win. Catriona Corrigan and Ava Irwin split time in goal, stopping six shots on the day.

Neumann wasted no time asserting its dominance on the afternoon. The Knights raced out to a six goal advantage in the opening quarter, led by three tallies from Fagan in the frame. Adams, Brosky and Fiedler also found the back of the net for the visitors, while Corrigan and the Neumann defense shut out the Eagles until the final moments of the opening period. The hosts scored with just 13 seconds left in the frame to cut the Neumann lead to 6-1 moving to the second.

Eastern bounced back with a much better second stanza. Brosky notched her second goal of the day at the 13:38 mark of the period to make it 7-1, but that would be the last highlight of the half for the visitors. The Eagles retaliated with three unanswered goals late in the quarter to send the game to halftime with the score 7-4.

The Knights rebounded with their best play of the game after halftime. In a high-scoring quarter, the visitors scored three of the first four goals of the period via a pair of goals from Mallon and Fagan's fourth goal of the day to make it 10-5 with 9:39 left in the frame. Eastern answered back with a pair of goals to make it 10-7 at the 7:29 mark, but that was the closest the hosts would get. Neumann finished the quarter on a 4-0 run with goals from Fiedler, Fagan, Adams and Jayana Murray to take a commanding 14-7 lead into the fourth.

The visitors continued to roll in the final frame, opening the quarter with three straight tallies to make it 17-7. Lauren Carson's first career goal was sandwiched by two more tallies from Fagan as Neumann put the game completely out of reach. The Eagles scored a late consolation goal to make it 17-8, but that was how the game would finish as the Knights won their fourth game in their last five tries.

Neumann (4-2) returns to action on Tuesday, March 22nd when the team travels to Hood College for another non-conference game. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
