ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team battled to an 8-7 defeat at Muhlenberg College on Tuesday afternoon.
Ryan Lopez and
Marcus White each had three hits in the game. White also scored three runs.
Nick Colon started the game on the mound and went 5.0 innings. He allowed five runs on nine hits.
Thomas Carroll pitched an inning and allowed two runs, one earned, and struck out three.
Brennan Hatala pitched the seventh and eighth and allowed a run on a hit and struck out four.
Neumann scored first in the first inning as Lopez singled in
Shawn Vega. Muhlenberg scored four runs in the third for a 4-1 lead. White scored a run in the fourth to cut into the Muhl's lead. White scored again in the sixth on an RBI groundout by
Andrew Curran. After seven innings, Muhlenberg built its lead to 8-3.
In the eighth, White knocked in Lopez with a double. White came around to score on a single by Curran.
Zach Ray hit a doble to score
Philip Pfaffman. Ray came around to score on a single by
Anthony Basciano for an 8-7 score after 7.5.
In the ninth,
Nick Glebocki hit a two-out double, but could not come around to score and Muhlenberg held on for the 8-7 win.
Neumann (4-6) opens conference play on Friday when it travels to Cabrini. First pitch at 3:00 PM.
