ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team is the No. 4 seed in the Atlantic East postseason and will head to Scranton for Pod Action to start the postseason this weekend.
Marywood will host "Pod A" as the Pacers finished as the No. 1 seed. Joining Marywood and Neumann is Centenary in the No. 6 seed slot.
The Knights are currently 13-25 overall and finished 6-6 in conference action. At the plate, Neumann is being led by sophomore Elizabeth Fire. In 31 contests, she is batting .375 with 33 hits, including 10 doubles and the only homeruns the team has hit with three. Shire has knocked in a team-high 19 runs and has scored 16.
Emily Reid leads the team in hits with 38 and runs scored with 20 while hitting .349 in 37 contests.
Taylor Portzline and
Vanessa Bowen are also hitting over .300. Portzline has 32 hits in 35 contests during her freshman campaign. She has scored 15 runs and knocked in 12. Bowen has started all 38 contests and has 34 hits, including five doubles. The senior has knocked in and scored 16 runs.

Olivia Ammon and
Ashlynne Scardino each have six wins with seven and eight complete games, respectively. Ammon leads the team with 41 strikeouts over. 70.2 innings. Scardino has pitched 82.1 innings in a team-high 18 appearances.
Against the opponents in the pod, the Knights dropped both games to Marywood while defeating Centenary in the doubleheader. Ammon and Scardino picked up the wins against the Cyclones.
Christina Ludovico had five hits, three RBI and scored two runs as well.
Marywood and Centenary will kick things off at 12:00 PM on Friday. Neumann will then face the Cyclones at 2:00 PM, followed by the Pacers at 4:00 PM.
Action on Saturday will get underway at 10:00 AM. The schedule will be determined after play is finished on Friday.
"Pod B" will be in Radnor, Pa. as Cabrini is the No. 2 seed. Traveling to Cabrini is No. 3 seeded Immaculata and No. 5 seeded Marymount.
The winners of each pod in the double elimination will meet at the higher remaining seed next weekend to compete for the 2022 Atlantic East Championship.
