Women's Lacrosse Closes Out Non-Conference Schedule With Win Over Cairn

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team kept its winning ways going on Tuesday afternoon, picking up a 13-0 victory over visiting Cairn University in non-conference action.

Reilly Fiedler (3 g, 1 a) and Leia Dinuova (2 g, 2 a) carried the Knights on the afternoon with four point games. Maggie Blemings (1 g, 2 a) and Abby Kelton (2 g, 1 a) added three points in the win, while Bekah Brosky scored twice. Catriona Corrigan picked up the the shutout in goal with one save.

Looking to close out its non-conference schedule with a win, Neumann dominated the Highlanders from the opening draw. The Knights raced out to an early 4-0 lead in first frame starting with a pair of goals from Fiedler in the opening 5:35. Dinuova then played a part in each of the final goals of the quarter, assisting on a Brosky marker at 1:09 before scoring a goal of her own with 11 seconds left to give the hosts momentum heading to the break.

The Knights continued the rout in the second stanza, scoring six times to blow the game wide open. Neumann spread the wealth offensively in the period with six separate goal scorers. Brosky, Blemings, Dinuova, Fiedler, Kelton and Lian Sydorowicz all found the back of the net for the hosts as the game moved to halftime with the score 10-0.

With the game well in hand in the second half, Neumann did it's best to run out the clock. The Knights scored three more times in the third to bring the score to 13-0 before focusing more on possession and defense in the fourth. Kara Dietrich, Cionni Warrington and Kelton all scored for the hosts as they rolled to the comfortable win. Corrigan was tested just once in the contest  as she picked up her first shutout of the season.

Neumann will look to build on its non-conference success as it opens up Atlantic East Conference play this Saturday, April 9th at Marymount. Game-time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
