ASTON, Pa. – With a win in the first round of the Atlantic East Conference playoffs, the Neumann University women's lacrosse team has advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament and will travel to Marymount University this Wednesday, May 3
rd at 4:00 PM.
Neumann enters the semifinal round with an overall record of 9-7 and a conference record of 2-3 to earn the third seed in the playoffs. The Knights will take on the second-seeded Saints, who ended the season with a 14-2 overall record and a 4-1 mark in conference play.
The team advanced to this position after a hard-fought home victory over sixth-seeded Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday.
Brylin Adams led the way with eight goals on the afternoon, while
Lindsey Fagan added four goals and an assist.
Maggie Blemings continued to be the team's primary distributor with five assists to go along with a goal of her own.
Catriona Corrigan was strong in net, picking up her ninth win of the year with 11 saves.
The Knights will have their work cut of for them if they hope to advance to their first ever Atlantic East Conference final. Marymount took home a win the first time the two teams met in Arlington by a score of 24-9. The Saints jumped out to an early 10-2 first quarter lead and never looked back, cruising the rest of the way.
Reilly Fiedler (3 g, 1 a),
Bekah Brosky (2 g, 1 a), Adams (2 g) and Fagan (1 g, 1 a) all recorded multi-point games in the loss.
The dynamic duo of Fagan and Adams has led the Neumann attack all season long. Adams leads the team with 70 points on 52 goals and 18 assists. Fagan is tops on the team with 59 goals, while also adding five assists for 64 points on the year. Blemings and
Reilly Fiedler have also been key cogs in the Neumann attack. Blemings leads the team with 24 assists, while Fiedler's 31 goals and 36 points rank her third on the team in each category.
The midfield has been led by the trio of Brosky (16 g, 4 a),
Alison Mallon (7 g, 8 a) and
Jayana Murray (12 g). These three players have been influential on both ends of the field, not only scoring goals but also ranking amongst the team leaders in ground balls and draw controls. Murray (37 gb) and Brosky (33 gb) rank second snd third in ground balls, while Mallon ranks second in draw controls (50). Brosky also leads the team with 23 caused turnovers, while Murray has picked up 19 on the season.
Neumann has been led on the defensive end of the field by senior goaltender Corrigan. The net-minder has started all 16 games, saving 140 shots for a .424 save percentage and a 13.94 goals against average. Corrigan has been aided on the back-line by defenders

If Neumann can pull off the upset at Marymount tomorrow afternoon, the team would advance to the Atlantic East Conference Championship this Saturday, May 7
th. The winner of the Neumann and Marymount game will take on the victor of the Cabrini versus Immaculata semifinal game.
