ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team conquered Notre Dame of Maryland University 8-1 on Tuesday evening.
Five Knights found the back of the cage in the complete team win.
Mia Black,
Ang Quillen, and
Rachel Koerner all scored two goals in the Knight's victory.
Elle Smith and
Kylie Fitchett also found the back of the cage. Along with her two goals, Koerner was also able to help her fellow Knights by tallying two assists.
Lizzie Frame and
MiKayla Brown also notched a pair of assists.
Neumann outshot the Gators 29- 2 overall and 19-1 on net. The Knights led in penalty corners 11-2.
Quillen and Black both put the Knights on the board less than a minute of each other in the fifth and sixth minutes off assists from Koerner and
Ronni Johnson. Koerner scored a goal in the first minute of the second quarter off a pass from Brown. After three more goals, the Knights finished with a 6-0 lead at the half.
Fitchett and Koerner both scored in the second half in the 43
rd and 56
th minutes, completing the victory for the Knights. The Gators spoiled the shutout bid with a goal off a penalty corner in the 49th minute.
Meg Frame played the first half in the cage and did not face a shot.
Emma Schneider played the second half.
Neumann (3-2) will play away on Saturday when it travels to Drew University. Action is slated to begin at 2:00 PM.
