Knights Fall in Four to Cougars

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team lost their match to Misericordia University on Tuesday night by a score of 3-1.
 
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 18 kills and four serve aces. Maria Brown followed up with 11 kills and added Lauren Garvey six. Dani Smith helped with 28 assists and 13 digs. Claudia Bournazel had 15 digs. Garvey and Hickey each added 11 digs.
 
Neumann opened the first set, scoring the first point. Misericordia answered by scoring the next eight points. The Cougars used that run to take the first set 24-18.
 
The second set started off back and forth, with the Knights taking an early 5-4 lead. With Neumann leading 12-11, Misericordia rattled off five straight points to take a 16-12 edge. The Cougars scored six straight points again later in the set to get to set point, 24-14. Neumann scored two points before Misericordia was able to get the set point and win 25-16.
 
The Knights started off the third set by scoring six points, including three service aces by Hickey. The Cougars chipped their way back and tied the match at 11. Neumann answered by scoring nine of the next 12 points to take a 20-14 lead. Misericordia netted the next four point to pull back within two, 20-18. The Knights got to set point, 24-19, but the Cougars were not going quietly to set four and scored four points before a Hickey kill sent the match to a fourth set, 25-23.
 
Set four started out back and forth and the Cougars held a slim 7-6 lead. Misericordia started to pull away and scored the final four point of the match for a 25-17 set four win and 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (2-10) heads cross-county to Widener on Saturday for a tri-match with Goucher. The first match is set for 11:00 AM.
