IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Immaculata University 72-62 on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
Four Knights tallied double-digits, led by
Jalen Vaughns with 19 points.
TJ Lewis went 8-for-8 from the line en route to 18 points on the afternoon.
Tony James finished with 17 points, going 6-for-6 from the line.
Ryan Starr added 13 points and eight assists in the win. James led the Knights with nine rebounds while Vaughns added eight.
The Knights held the pace of the game throughout the first half. Neumann took a three-point advantage, 31-28, into halftime.
The Mighty Macs scored the first basket of the second half before the Knights hit a layup and three-pointer to extend their lead to six, 36-30. A jumper by Starr with 15:10 on the clock put Neumann up by double-digits, 43-32. With 4:26 remaining in regulation, Immaculata pulled to within seven, 62-55. The Knights answered with a 6-1 run to increase their lead back to 12, 68-56. Neumann would hold a double-figure lead for the rest of regulation for the 72-62 win.
Neumann (12-4, 2-1 Atlantic East) returns home on Wednesday when it will host Gwynedd Mercy. The Atlantic East contest is slated to begin at 8:00 PM.
