ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Ice Hockey team challenged the #13 ranked Utica University Pioneers on Friday evening, dropping a 13-0 decision in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game.
After both teams had opportunities to open the scoring over the first few minutes, Utica broke the ice at the 4:13 mark of the first. The Pioneers would add four more goals in the period to take a 5-0 lead into the first intermission.
Utica continued to add on in the second, scoring 50 seconds into the frame. They added a couple of power play goals on their way to another five-goal period. In the third, the Pioneers earned another power play goal along with a shorthanded goal and an even-strength marker to close out the scoring.
Despite the score line, the Knights did have their chances as they were led by
Taylor Ettore's five shot effort.
Lian Sydorowicz and
Jamiyah Alexander added two shots each. In her first collegiate start,
Annie Riek made 40 saves.
Neumann (5-14, 4-11 UCHC will be back in action tomorrow afternoon to close out this weekend's two-game series against Utica University, and the home portion of the Knights' schedule. The Senior Day game is scheduled for a 2pm start.
