ASTON, Pa. – In their final home game of the season, the Neumann University Women's Ice Hockey team were dealt a 5-1 loss at the hands of their United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) rivals, the Utica University Pioneers, on Saturday evening.
 
After a scoreless first period, the Knights were able to strike just 22 seconds into the second period. Taylor Ettore picked up the unassisted goal, her fifth of the season, to give Neumann a 1-0 lead. Utica was able to equalize with 15:54 left in the frame, and then took the lead on a power play goal with 5:40 left, taking a 2-1 lead into the third.
 
As the Knights pushed for the tying goal, the Pioneers added to their advantage just under five minutes into the final period. Utica added two more goals at the midway point of the frame and with 4:18 left in regulation.
 
In addition to her goal, Ettore fired six shots on goal while Lian Sydorowicz added three shots of her own. Michelle Winand-Bacon made 64 saves, including 24 saves each in the first and third periods.
 
Neumann (5-15, 4-12 UCHC) will hit the road for their next game on Friday, February 10th, as they take on their in-state rivals, Chatham University. Face-off in Pittsburgh is scheduled for 7pm.
