ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Ice Hockey team took on the Manhattanville College Valiants on Saturday night with the Knights dropping a 5-1 decision in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest.
After two minutes of play inside of the Manhattanville zone, the Valiants countered the pressure and scored on a breakway for an early 1-0 lead. Five minutes into the second, Manhattanville put together two goals in 30 seconds, pushing their lead to three. With 6:46 left in the period, the Valiants added one more goal for a 4-0 lead heading into the third.
17 seconds into the final period, Manhattanville would make it a 5-0 game. At the 4:25 mark of the third, while on the power play,
Cameron Hatziioannou got the Knights on the board with his first goal of the year.
PJ Demitrio and
Wyatt Wong earned the assist as Neumann was able to avoid the shutout.
Tyler Kulas and
Nate Dunning each led the Knights with five shots on goal. Kulas was also dominant in the faceoff circle, winning 14 of 18 draws.
Cole DeFazio got the start in goal and made 27 saves.
Neumann (6-13, 4-10 UCHC) will return to action on Friday night in the Baltimore area against Stevenson University. The game is scheduled for a 7pm start.
