COLMAR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team used a two-goal third period to defeat Arcadia University by a final score of 3-1 o Saturday afternoon and win both ends of this weekend's United Collegeiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) home-and-home series.
 
PJ Demitrio led the way with a goal and an assist.
 
After a scoreless first period, Arcadia got on the board with a deflected power play goal at the 6:06 mark. With just 11 seconds left in the period, 
Nate Dunning snapped a one-timer home, his third goal of the season, after a beautiful give-and-go with 
Luke Croucher. Demitrio was awarded the secondary assist as Neumann went into the last twenty minutes tied up at one apiece.
 
With 12:31 left in regulation, Neumann used a sharp angle shot to take the lead for the first time in the game. Croucher rushed the puck into the zone and cycled it to Demitrio on the boards. Demitrio wheeled and fired in his second goal of the season. Croucher and 
Brady Mistler earned the assists, giving Neumann the one goal edge.
 
In the late stages, 
Tyler Kennedy pushed the puck to 
Chase Cochran, starting a two-on-one break. With 1:06 left, he entered the offensive circle and fired a wrister through from the top of the circle, sending Neumann to a 3-1 lead. For Cochran it was his second goal of the season. Kennedy had the lone assist.
 
DeFazio picked up his second win of the weekend, and fifth of the season, making 38 saves on the game. Dunning led the team in shots with eight while 
Tyler Kulas had a big day in the faceoff circle, winning 17 of 24 draws.
 
Neumann (6-7, 4-5 UCHC) will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon to resume a suspended game against the Chatham Cougars. The continuation will begin at 3:00 PM.
